Mayoral Election – Illinois, USA

In the 2015 Springfield, Illinois mayoral election, City Treasurer and mayoral candidate Jim Langfelder sought assistance to overcome strong opposition from the incumbent mayor and another well-known candidate. ZG Worldwide associate Josh Kauffman, now the System Director of Communications and Public Health for a major Midwest hospital network, was selected to provide expert assistance in advertising and media relations. Josh had much public and private sector experience in public relations, media relations, and external and internal communications campaigns in state government and the insurance industry. Josh and ZG Worldwide President Lothar Soliwon were former co-workers at the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Although opposition remained strong throughout the campaign, Jim Langfelder was elected. He is now in his second year as mayor.

Medical Technology Venture Capital – China

A group of Chinese investors has been seeking advanced medical technology from the U.S., either in a joint venture or company purchase. They are are looking for early stage to well-established companies (up to $50 million in annual sales). Associate Quinn Place, CPA, originally from China, has been working with this group and has found some devices that are being evaluated. She, along with a large Chinese distributor, also wants to work with U.S. pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical excipient firms seeking to expand their distribution channels to China. These contacts have API (Active Pharmaceutic ingredients), some with FDA approval, they want to sell in the U.S. and other markets.

Solar Energy System Installation – Illinois and Missouri, USA

EFS Energy, the Midwest’s expert energy efficiency providers and installers, and ZG Worldwide partnered up to spread the word about solar energy in the state. Their main goal is to encourage businesses in the Midwest of the investment opportunity this technology has to offer and show how to reduce their long-term energy costs. A local distributing company in Trenton, Illinois uses a great deal of electricity and had long thought about installing a solar energy system. EFS Energy, located in St. Louis, completed a site evaluation and provided a free proposal to the company to represent this investment opportunity. It was determined from this proposal that with the various incentives, tax credits, and depreciation, the payback for a solar energy system is less than 3.5 years.

The company evaluated the proposal and decided to move forward with the investment given the current economic impact it will make on the business. EFS Energy is set to install the system before the end of the year. The performance of the system will be monitored and compared to the original projected values. In addition, the local distributing company can demonstrate to its employees, customers, and community that they are serious about minimizing their impact on the environment and carbon footprint.

China Doctors from U.S. to Work in China – Global

A high-end international medical tourism resort near Guangzhou and a clinic in Beijing sought U.S. board certified doctors to work at their facilities, which ZG Worldwide was successful in finding. Both clinics had many foreign and Chinese patients seeking the best medical services possible, which some believe is from U.S. doctors. For various reasons, such as foreign experience, adventure, learning traditional Chinese medicine, etc., a few U.S. doctors are interested in this type of work, even with lower income than they would receive at home. One MD went back to the U.S. after fulfillment of a one-year contract and the other is still in China.
